Maruti Suzuki has introduced the BS6-compliant Celerio S-CNG variants in the country. The BS6 Maruti Celerio CNG comes in three variants – VXI, VXI (O) and Tour H2 – priced at Rs 5.60 lakh, Rs 5.68 lakh and Rs 5.36 lakh respectively. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi. The hatchback’s CNG variants are available for both fleet and private buyers. It’s the brand’s 7th BS6 S-CNG model under its Mission Green Million project that was announced at this year’s Auto Expo. The BS6 Maruti Celerio CNG features 1.0L petrol engine with CNG kit with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The setup offers a maximum power of 58.33bhp at 6,000rpm and 78Nm of torque at 3,500rpm. The carmaker says its S-CNG vehicles are boosted with dual interdependent ECUs (electronic control units) and intelligent injection system. The CNG models have been “specially tuned and calibrated to deliver optimum performance and enhanced drivability across all kinds of terrains”.
In January 2020, the carmaker rolled out the BS6-compliant Celerio with 1.0L petrol engine that’s good enough for 68PS and 90Nm of torque. The hatchback can be had either with a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. Currently, the BS6 petrol variants are available in the price range of Rs 4.41 lakh – Rs 5.58 lakh (all, ex-showroom). The hatchback’s BS6 version is around Rs 15,000 more expensive than its BS4 model.
In coming weeks, the Indo-Japanese carmaker will launch the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross petrol that was previewed at this year’s Auto Expo. Unofficial bookings for the model have already been started. The new S-Cross will be offered in three variants – Delta, Zeta and Alpha. At the heart of the vehicle will be a BS6-compliant 1.5L K15B petrol engine sourced from the new Vitara Brezza. The gasoline motor returns a claimed power of 105PS and a peak torque of 138Nm. It offers a claimed mileage of 30.47km/kg.
