BS6 Jeep Compass Launched; Diesel Gets Significant Price Hike

The American carmaker has announced the launch of the BS6 Jeep Compass SUV in the country. The SUV lineup is now available with upgraded BS6-compliant 1.4L turbo petrol and 2.0L turbo diesel engines. Official prices of the BS6 Jeep Compass are yet to be revealed. Though, the carmaker has confirmed that the SUV’s petrol models have witnessed a price hike by up to Rs 25,000 and the diesel variants get expensive by up to Rs 1.1 lakh. The power and torque figures of the BS6-complaint petrol and diesel remain unchanged. The petrol motor pushes out a peak power of 161bhp with 250Nm of torque, while the diesel unit generates a top power of 172bhp with 350Nm of torque. The BS6 Jeep Compass petrol comes with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox option. The diesel model, on the other hand, is offered with a 6-speed manual transmission only. Besides the updated engines, the BS6 Jeep Compass gets start and stop feature as standard across the lineup. The automatic variants are now available with the standard cruise control. On the features front, the fully-loaded Compass Limited Plus 4X4 AT offers auto headlamps, auto-dimming IRVM, 18-inch alloy wheels, rain sensitive wipers, a larger 8.4-inch UConnect Infotainment screen, premium leather interiors, 8-way powered seat for the driver, dual-pane panoramic sun/moon roof and six airbags.

The lower variants get a 7-inch UConnect screen with reverse camera and dynamic guideline functionality. The list of features also includes 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone air conditioning, dual-tone interiors, push-button start, ABS with EBD, traction control, electronic stability control (ESC), hill start assist, electric parking brake and disc brakes on all four wheels along with frequency damped suspension.
