The all-electric BMW iX1 electric SUV has officially arrived in India. The model is available in a single xDrive30 variant, priced at Rs 66.90 lakh (ex-showroom), making it the most affordable electric SUV from the German automaker in the country. Following the iX SUV, i4, and i7 sedans, the iX1 marks the fourth electric addition to BMW’s product portfolio. In terms of competition, the new BMW electric SUV will compete against rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz EQB, Kia EV6, Volvo XC40 Recharge, and Hyundai Ioniq 5, which are priced at Rs 77.50 lakh, Rs 60.95 lakh, Rs 56.9 lakh, and Rs 45.95 lakh, respectively (ex-showroom).
Powertrain setup of the BMW iX1 xDrive30 includes a 66.5kWh lithium-ion battery and an All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system, housing dual electric motors. This configuration delivers a combined power output of 313bhp and a peak torque of 494Nm. The electric SUV demonstrates impressive acceleration, sprinting from 0 to 100kmph in just 5.6 seconds and reaching a top speed of 180kmph. Its range extends up to 440km on a single charge.
The BMW iX1 offers versatile charging options, supporting DC fast charging up to 130kW, enabling a rapid recharge from 10 to 80 percent battery capacity in approximately 29 minutes. Additionally, the battery can be fully replenished using a standard 11kW AC charger in 6.3 hours. The BMW iX1 features the fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology, with the high-voltage battery located beneath the vehicle’s underbody and advanced charging technology.
In terms of dimensions, the new BMW electric SUV measures 4500mm in length, 1845mm in width, and 1642mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,692mm. It provides a spacious boot space of 490 liters, which can be expanded to 1,495 liters with the rear seats folded down.
The BMW iX1 is well-equipped with a host of features, including a 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, BMW Live Cockpit Professional (a digital instrument cluster), dual-zone climate control, a Harman Kardon sound system, a heads-up display (HUD), wireless charging, active cruise control with stop & go functionality, a panoramic sunroof, powered front seats with memory and massage functions, lane departure warning, attentiveness assistant, front collision warning, hill start assist, evasion assistant, and parking assistant plus.
