The eagerly awaited Volvo C40 Recharge has officially graced the roads of India, bringing its all-electric prowess to the market. It’s available at an introductory price of Rs 61.25 lakh, ex-showroom India, with bookings opening on September 5th, starting at 5 pm. Deliveries are slated to commence next week. This places the C40 Recharge in direct competition with the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5, priced between Rs 60.95 lakh and Rs 65.95 lakh, and Rs 48.47 lakh, respectively. It’s worth noting that the electric version of the C40 comes at a premium of approximately Rs 4.35 lakh compared to its locally-assembled counterpart. Powertrain: The Volvo C40 Recharge boasts a 78kWh battery pack paired with a dual-motor setup, featuring one motor on each axle. This configuration yields an impressive claimed range of 530km on a full charge (WLTP cycle). The dual electric motors deliver a combined power output of 408bhp and a robust 660Nm of torque. With an AWD system in place, the C40 Recharge can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in a brisk 4.7 seconds. Charging is a breeze with a 150kW DC fast charger, allowing the battery to reach from 0 to 100 percent in a mere 27 minutes.
Technology: Built on the CMA platform, the new C40 Recharge is packed with cutting-edge technology. It features sensor-based Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a premium Harman Kardon sound system, connected car technology, dual-zone climate control with heating and cooling, powered front seats with driver-side memory function, a 360-degree camera, and a 9.0-inch portrait-style touchscreen equipped with an Android-based infotainment system supporting Google Maps, Assistant, Play Store, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Despite its electric credentials, it doesn’t compromise on practicality, offering a luggage space of 413 liters, just 39 liters less than its regular counterpart.
