Hyundai Ioniq 5 Launch Price Rs 44.95 Lakh – Cheaper Than Kia EV6

The much-awaited Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric crossover has finally been launched in our market. The company has released the prices of the electric vehicle at the 2023 Auto Expo. The new Ioniq 5 EV has been made available at a special price of Rs 44.95 lakh (ex-showroom) that will be applicable for the first 500 customers.

Interested buyers can book the new Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric crossover online or at authorised dealership by paying a token amount of Rs 1 lakh. The new model is priced competitively as against the Kia EV6. While the EV6 comes as a CBU (Completely Built-Up), the Ioniq 5 comes here as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down). Hyundai Ioniq 5 Platform & Design

It is the first Hyundai ‘born electric’ electric vehicle, which is built on a bespoke platform or ‘skateboard’. Called E-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform), the new platform is designed around a battery pack, electric motors and associated components, and is compatible to accommodate wide range of body styles. This platform also underpins the Hyundai Ioniq 6 and the Kia EV6.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 comes with unique design elements with a mix of hatchback-like sihouette and SUV-like styling elements. The electric crossover’s styling is heavily inspired from the 45 EV concept, which was first unveiled at the 2019 Frankfurt Auto Show. The model has retro looks with flat surfaces, sharp lines and an SUV-ish stance along with a raked windscreens. The crossover gets Parametric pixel LED headlamps, parametric pixel LED tail-lamps, auto flush door handles and 20-inch parametric pixel design alloy wheels.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric crossover is available in 3 exterior colour options – Gravity Gold Matte, Midnight Black Pearl and Optic White.

Thanks to Skateboard platform, the new Hyundai Ioniq 5 comes with a minimalist interior and a flat floor with lots of space. The new electric crossover comes with flexible seats and a movable centre console, which can slide back and forth by up to 140mm. It comes with power sliding rear seats with manual reclining, front powered seats with lumbar support, front ventilated and heated seats, 8-speakers Bose premium sound system, memory seat function and a huge panoramic sunroof.

The electric vehicle offers spacious cabin and is designed using sustainable materials. The fabrics used to construct cabin is made from recycled plastic bottles and eco-friendly leather is used for the seats * door upholstery and carpet. Hyundai has also used bio-paint for the crash pads, switches, steering wheel and door pads.

The electric crossover comes with a 12-inch digital driver display and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless connectivity. In terms of features, the Ioniq 5 gets a head-up display with augmented reality functions, virtual engine sound system, coloumn type shift-by-wire, electric parking brake, Hands free smart power tail gate with height adjustment, heated outside mirrors with LED turn indicators, etc. The Ioniq 5 also has the innovative Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function that allows customers to charge any electric device.

The new Ioniq 5 also comes with Level 2 ADAS with 21 features. It has forward collision – avoidance assist – junction turning (FCA-JT), forward collision – avoidance assist – cycle (FCA-Cyl), lane keeping assist, blind-spot collision avoidance assist, safe exist assist, lane following assist (LFA), rear cross – traffic collision – avoidance assist (RCCA), blind-spot view monitor (BVM), driver attention warning (DAW), forward collision warning (FCW), high beam assist (HBA), leading vehicle departure alert (LVDA), lane departure warning (LDW), surround view monitor (SVM), and adaptive cruise control.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 Battery & Powertrain Details

The electric crossover is offered with two battery pack options – 58kWh and 72.6kWh – both offered with AWD and rear-wheel drive configurations. The former with RWD setup produces 170bhp and 233bhp in AWD guise. The larger battery with rear-wheel-drive layout produces 217bhp and 305bhp in AWD form.

In the official test cycle, the Ioniq 5 with smaller battery pack offers 383km range on a single charge. The larger battery is claimed to offer a range of 481km (WLTP cycle). The electric crossover supports superfast 800V charging, which is clamed to charge the battery from 10 to 80 percent in 18 minutes. In India, most public chargers have a 25kW or 50kW output and the Ioniq 5 ‘s battery will take significant time to achieve 0 to 80% charge.
