Mercedes-Benz GLB, EQB Electric SUV – Prices, Key Features

Mercedes-Benz India today rolled out the new GLB and the EQB luxury SUVs in the country. The Mercedes-Benz EQB, which is the third electric offering from the German luxury automaker in India, has been priced at Rs 74.50 lakh (ex-showroom). In the company’s product lineup, it sits below the EQS and the newly-launched EQS. The 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLB has been made available in three variants – GLB 200 Progressive Line, GLB 220d Progressive Line and GLB 220d 4Matic AMG Line – priced at Rs 63.80 lakh, Rs 66.80 lakh and Rs 69.80 lakh respectively. All aforementioned prices are ex-showroom.

In India, the company has introduced the EQB 300 variant that comes with a 66.5kWh battery pack offering a WLTP rated range of up to 423km. Its power and torque outputs stand at 228bhp and 390Nm. The electric SUV has an AWD (all-wheel drive) system delivering power to all four wheels via dual electric motors. It’s capable to do 0 to 100kmph in 8 seconds and offer a maximum speed of 160kmph. Mercedes-Benz is offering an 8-year warranty on the battery pack. The SUV can be charged from 10 to 100 percent in 6 hours 25 minutes via a 11kW AC charger and in 32 minutes via a 100kW DC fast charger.

Buyers have five colour options to choose from, namely, Digital White, Iridium Silver, Cosmos Black, Mountain Grey and Rose Gold. The 7-seater electric SUV offers features such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster, electrically adjustable front seats, 64 colour ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate and 18-inch alloy wheels.

The German automaker will import the new Mercedes-Benz GLB as CBU (Completely Built Up) unit from Mexico. Powering the luxury SUV is a 1.3L, 4-cylinder turbo petrol and a 2.0L, 4-cylinder diesel engine making 163bhp with 250Nm and 190bhp with 400Nm respectively. While the gasoline unit can be had with a 7-speed automatic gearbox and FWD system, the latter is available with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and the FWD and 4Matic AWD options.

Features such as AMG-spec sports seats and steering wheel and carbon fibre-like on dashboard and door pads are exclusively offered on the top-end 220d 4Matic variant. The SUV also comes with twin 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment with wireless smartphone connectivity and instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, powered front seats with memory, in-built navigation, 64 colour ambient lighting, parking assist, powered tailgate and many more goodies.
