Big Launches From Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai This Diwali

This Diwali will big as there will be two big launches from India’s two giant auto manufacturers – Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai. While the Indo-Japanese carmaker will bring in the new-generation Maruti Suzuki Celerio, the South Korean carmaker will introduce the next-generation Hyundai i20. Both models are reported to hit showrooms in October, 2020. One must note that the official launch dates and details of the new Celerio and i20 are yet to be revealed by the companies.

Talking about the 2020 Maruti Celerio, the hatchback will witness significant changes inside and out. In fact, there will be significant dimensional changes as well. Compared to the outgoing model, the new Celerio will bigger and sit on longer wheelbase translating into more cabin space. Inside, the model is likely to receive Suzuki’s SmartPlay Studio touchscreen infotainment system with latest smartphone connectivity. Though, it could be reserved for the top-spec trim.

Features such as multi functional steering wheel, automatic air conditioning and reverse parking camera might also be on offer. On the engine front, the 2020 Maruti Celerio will get 1.0L petrol and 1.2L petrol engines delivering power worth 67bhp with 90Nm and 77bhp with 113Nm respectively. The hatchback will be made available with a 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox option.

The 2020 Hyundai i20 will come with improved styling, better equipped interior and refined powertrains. Engine setup of the premium hatchback will include a 1.0L turbo petrol, 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5L diesel unit. While the turbo petrol with a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox offers 99bhp, the 1.2L motor with a 5-speed manual gearbox delivers 82bhp. The power figure of the oil burner stands at 99bhp.

2020 Hyundai i20 Changes

Buyers will also have 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque convertor automatic transmissions to choose from. Some of its key updates will include a new cascading grille, new LED headlamps, contrasting roof, a 10.25-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, Hyundai’s BlueLink connected car technology, Bose premium audio system with 8-speakers and more.
