All-New Maruti Celerio (Tata Tiago Rival) Launch Before Diwali

Maruti Suzuki has started testing the next-gen Celerio hatchback, which is reportedly to be launched before Diwali this year. The new model will be a full generation change, featuring all-new styling, new platform and improved interior. The all-new Maruti Suzuki Celerio will directly rival the Tata Tiago and the Hyundai Santro.

The new Maruti Celerio will be based on the HEARTECT platform that also underpins the current-gen Wagon R and the S-Presso. The report claims that the new model will be bigger than the outgoing model. It is expected to ride on a longer wheelbase and will have wider cabin than the outgoing car. The spy images also suggest that the new model is significantly bigger than the outgoing Celerio.

The all-new Maruti Celerio will also receive new interior layout, which is expected to be shared with other entry-level Maruti Suzuki cars. The new model will also come equipped with Suzuki’s SmartPlay studio touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity. However, this feature will be restricted to higher variants. The hatchback is also likely to offer reverse camera, automatic air-conditioning, alloy wheels, multi-functional steering wheel, and others.

Dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, rear parking sensors, speed alert and seat belt reminder will come as standard safety features. The hatchback will is likely to be offered with two engine options – a 1.0-litre petrol and a 1.2-litre petrol. While the former is good for 67bhp and 90Nm of torque, the 1.2L engine offers 77bhp and 113Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and an AMT automatic unit.

Previous media reports also suggest that Maruti Suzuki is also readying an all-new entry-level hatchback, which will replace the popular Alto hatchback. The new model is also rumoured to bring back the Maruti 800 nameplate. Adding to it, the Indo-Japanese brand is working on an all-new mid-sized SUV to rival the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos.
