It was a fantastic run for the Tata Tiago EV before Citroen came along with its electrified C3, called the “eC3 ”. Powertrain options for both hatchbacks seem very similar, at least on paper. Therefore, we decided to pit them against one another.

- The Citroen eC3 comes with a bigger battery pack and so it claims more drive range than the Tata Tiago EV. While the former has a 29.2kWh battery pack with an electric motor (57PS/143Nm), the latter can be had with either a 19.2kWh (61PS/110Nm) or a 24kWh (75PS/114Nm) battery pack.
- Although both EVs come with a front-wheel-mounted electric motor, the Tiago EV gets a more powerful electric drivetrain. However, Citroen’s powertrain churns out more torque.
- When it comes to performance, the Tiago EV offers faster acceleration and has more numbers on tap. It can do 0 to 60kmph in 6.2 seconds (19.2kWh) and 5.7 seconds (24kWh). The Citroen eC3, on the other hand, does the same in 6.8 seconds.
- Speaking of the DC fast charging, both EVs take about an hour to go from 10 to 80 per cent.

- There is no question that the Citroen eC3 has the biggest dimensions, broadest & tallest, as well as the longest wheelbase, which should result in more generous cabin space when compared to the Tata Tiago EV.
- Similar to the ICE-powered C3, the electric hatchback measures 3981mm in length, 1733mm in width and 1640mm in height with roof rails. It has a wheelbase of 2540mm.
- The eC3 is 212mm longer, 56mm wider and 50mm taller with a 140mm longer wheelbase than the Tata Tiago EV. In fact, it offers 4mm higher ground clearance and 75-litres extra boot space than its arch rival.
- Moreover, the new Citroen electric car flaunts a more commanding presence on the road thanks to its SUV-like styling.

- The new Citroen eC3 comes in two trims – Live and Feel (with Vibe Pack and dual-tone colour) – priced from Rs 11.50 lakh and Rs 12.43 lakh respectively. The Feel trim can also be had without Vibe Pack and dual-tone shade at Rs 12.13 lakh.
- Prices of the Tata Tiago EV start from Rs 8.69 lakh for the base variant and go up to Rs 11.99 lakh for the top-end variant.
- In terms of pricing, the eC3’s base model takes on the Tiago EV XZ+ 24kWh (with 7.2kW charger) that costs Rs 11.49 lakh. The eC3 Feel variant without Vibe pack and dual-tone colour is available at Rs 12 lakh, thus making it direct rival of the Tiago EV’s XZ+ Tech Lux 24kWh (with 7.2kWh charger) variant.
Verdict
Considering how closely the two EVs match one another, it is difficult to make a definitive decision. Going by its specifications on paper, the eC3 has a slight advantage. In spite of this, Tiago’s comprehensive list of features and wide array of powertrain options makes it a more pleasing choice. All in all, it boils down to your preferences.
