Citroen’s Electric Hatch – eC3 – Pricier Than Tiago EV

Citroen eC3, the mass-market electric offering from the French automaker, has finally been launched in the country. The model lineup is being offered in two variants – Live and Feel – priced at Rs 11.50 lakh and Rs 12.43 lakh respectively (all, ex-showroom). One must note that prices of the Feel variant includes a Vibe Pack and dual-tone colour scheme. Here, the new Citroen electric car takes directly on the Tata Tiago EV that costs between Rs 8.69 lakh – Rs 11.99 lakh.

The company is offering the electric hatchback with a warranty of 3 years/1,25,000km. The battery pack and electric motor are available with a warranty of 7 year/1,40,000km and 5 year/1,00,000 km respectively.

Powertrain setup of the Citroen eC3 includes a 29.2kWh battery pack that supplies power to an electric motor mounted on the front axle. The e-motor delivers a claimed power of 57bhp and 143Nm of torque. The electric hatchback can do 0 to 60kmph in 6.8 seconds and attain a top speed of 107kmph. It comes with two drive modes – Eco and Standard, and regenerative braking system.

The carmaker claims that the eC3 offers an ARAI-certified range of 320km on a single charge. The e-hatchback has been offered with two charging options – a 3.3W onboard AC charger (also supports CCS2 fast charging) and a DC fast charger. The battery pack takes 57 minutes to get charged from 10 to 80 percent via DC fast charger. It can also be juiced up from 10 to 100 percent via a home charger in 10.5 hours.

Talking about features, the new Citroen eC3 offers a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a height adjustable driver’s seat, 4-speaker audio system and MyCitroen Connect app offering information such as charging status, navigation to the nearest charging station, location and more. The electric hatch also comes with dual airbags and ABS with EBD.
