Baojun RC-5W is a Station-Wagon with SUV Looks
The Baojun RC-5W is a station wagon based on the RC-5 coupe sedan, which was unveiled in April 2020.
The SAIC Motor Corporation owned Baojun will introduce 6 all-new models in the Chinese market this year. The company had revealed the RC-5 coupe sedan in April 2020 and has now revealed the Baojun RC-5W Station Wagon.
At first glance, the new liftback looks more like a coupe-SUV with strong and powerful front design. Similar to the coupe sedan, the new Baojun RC-5W features new “Interstellar Geometry” design language, which gives it a modern profile. Also See – Baojun RS-3 Compact SUV – What to Expect?
At the front, the Baojun RC-5W gets split headlamp design. The thin horizontal DRLs (Daytime Running Lights) are placed on top at the corners, while the main units are placed lower down. The grille seems identical to the RM-5 minivan and also shares some design with the RC-5 coupe sedan.
The RC-5W comes with a blackened D-pillar, which merges well with the floating roof. At the rear, the station wagon gets a pair of small taillights with dark horizontal inserts which also lights up. In terms of proportions, the Baojun RC-5W is 4,685mm in length, 1,806mm wide and 1,485mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,700mm. The overall size of the RC-5W seems identical to the Volkswagen Golf and Skoda Octavia Estate.
The RC-5W station wagon is equipped with host of comfort and convenience features like a panoramic sunroof, driving assistance technology, a panoramic camera system, a large touchscreen infotainment system with Internet facility, and many more. It is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that is capable of producing 145bhp of power.
The Baojun RC-5W will be launched in the Chinese market in the end of this year. The station Wagon could also be introduced in select international markets under the Wuling nameplate. General Motors could also introduce an all-new model based on this platform for the international markets.
