All-New Maruti Vitara Brezza, Alto 800, Celerio Launching This Year

Maruti Suzuki is getting aggressive with its product strategy for the competitive Indian market. Despite rising demand for SUVs, the company believes that the entry-level hatchback segment will remain relevant among first time car buyers. MSIL will launch the new-gen Celerio hatchback and the new Alto 800 this year. Adding to it, the Swift facelift will go on sale in February 2020.

Maruti Suzuki is also working on multiple new SUVs/crossovers and new MPV for the Indian market. The company will introduce the new-gen Vitara Brezza before the end of this year. Adding to it, a Baleno based crossover, 5-Door Jimny and an all-new mid-sized SUV are also in the works. The 5-door Jimny is rumoured to be launched by July 2022, while the mid-sized SUV will go on sale in the first half of 2022. Set to rival the Tata Nexon and the Renault Kiger, the compact crossover is expected in late 2022 or early 2023.

The new-gen Vitara Brezza is reportedly to be based on the Suzuki’s lightweight HEARTECT platform, which also underpins the Baleno. This platform will allow MSIL engineers to add more space inside the cabin and stronger mild-hybrid system. The SUV will retain the boxy-shape and spacious cabin to accommodate 5 adults comfortably along with large boot space.

The new model is expected to be introduced in the third quarter of 2021, before Diwali. The new-gen Maruti Vitara Brezza is likely to feature the same 1.5-litre K15B 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 104bhp and 138Nm of torque. The engine will be coupled to a stronger mild-hybrid system with larger battery and a more powerful electric motor. The compact SUV is also expected to get a diesel version, which will be powered by a 1.5-litre engine.

The entry-level hatchback will come with significantly revised interior. It will have all-new dashboard, new central console and a 7-inch SmartPlay Studio infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support.

The hatchback will be offered with 2 engine options – a 83bhp, 1.2L petrol and a 68bhp, 1.0L 3-cylinder petrol. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed MT and an AMT. The hatchback is also likely to come with a factory-fitted CNG kit.=

Design and interior details are yet to be revealed, but it is likely to receive comprehensive changes.
