The much-awaited Tata Safari 2021 will make India debut on January 26. Dealers have unofficially started taking pre-orders for the SUV; though official bookings will commence towards the end of this month. It is basically a 7-seater version of the Harrier, which was first showcased as the Gravitas at the 2020 Auto Expo.
The Tata Safari 2021 will be offered in 4 variants – XE, XM, XT and XZ. Powering the SUV is a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that also powers the Harrier. This engine is capable of producing 170bhp of power and 350Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission.In terms of proportions, the new Safari is 63mm longer, 72mm wider and 80mm taller than the Harrier. The SUV will have a ground clearance of 200mm.
Key Features
The top-spec XT and XZ variants will come factory-fitted Panoramic sunroof (Roll/Tilt/Glass – Slide open & close, one-touch manual control & Express Open, Anti-Pinch, Rain Sensor close & key out/ Global close). The SUV gets disc brakes for all wheels, iRA connected car features using Airtel & BSNL e-sims, ambient lighting, reverse parking sensors, usable roof rails with 75kg load capacity, Xenon HID projector headlamps in top-end variant, USB charger, sub-woofer, electronic parking brake with auto hold function, automatic vehicle hold (AVH), etc.
The SUV offers Terrain Modes – Normal, Wet and Rough Road. The top-spec model rides on 18-inch alloy wheels. It gets Easy seat recline, fold & tumble operation for easy ingress & egress for 3rd row passengers. The SUV has piano black finish for B & C-pillar.

For safety & security, the Tata Safari 2021 comes equipped with ABS with EBD, cornering stability control, off-road ABS, traction control, Electronic stability control (ESC), hill hold control, hill descent control, roll-oover mitigation, dynamic wheel torque by brake, EDTC (Engine Drag Torque Control), EBP (Electronic Brake Pre-fill), HBA (Hydraulic Brake Assist) and HFC (Hydraulic Fading Compensation).
