Renault Group – Dacia Bigster SUV Concept Revealed

Dacia Bigster, the new SUV concept from the Renault’s subsidiary, has been revealed via official pictures. The concept previews the new flagship SUV that will be positioned above the Duster in the company’s global production lineup. The model will be designed on Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance’s CMF-B platform. The Bigster concept based SUV will be among three new Dacia models that will be launched in the European market.  As of now, there is no information on its India launch. The carmaker says that the Dacia Bigster is the brand’s “way of making the C-segment accessible, delivering a larger, more capable vehicle at the cost buyers would expect from the segment below”. The concept features uniquely designed Y-shaped headlamps, LED lighting system, pronounced wheel arches, a flat roof line and muscular haunches.

The Bigster has protective exterior panels made from raw recycled plastics. The SUV concept also reveals the brand’s new logo. Interior details of the new Dacia SUV are still under the wraps. Though, it’s likely to come 5 and 7-seater configurations. As far as concerned, the model is likely to come with both alternative-energy and hybrid powertrain options.

Talking about Renault India’s future plan, the French carmaker is ready to unveil the production version of the upcoming Kiger subcompact SUV on coming 28th January. The model will be positioned against the cars like Tata Nexon, newly-launched Nissan Magnite, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport.

Based on the CMF-A+ platform, the compact SUV will come 1.0L naturally aspirated and 1.0L turbo petrol engines producing 72bhp with 96Nm and 99bhp with 160Nm respectively. In terms of features, the Renault Kiger is reported to richer than the Nissan Magnite. Though, it will be priced slightly premium over its cousin. The production-ready Kiger is likely to hit roads in next couple of months.
