All-New Maruti Celerio – 15,000 Bookings, 12 Weeks Waiting Period

Maruti Suzuki India rolled out the second-generation Celerio hatchback in the second week of November 2021. Within one month of its arrival, the model received over 15,000 bookings that’s said to be much better than its previous generation. The latter one used to gathered bookings around 5,000 – 6,000 units on monthly basis. Currently, the new 2022 Maruti Celerio commands a waiting period of up to 12 weeks (which is around 3 months) depending on the variant.

The reason behind the high waiting period is the global shortage of semiconductor and electronic components. In fact, Maruti Suzuki’s monthly production declined by 60%, 40% and 15% in the month of September, October and November respectively. Due to shortage of semiconductors, Maruti Suzuki cars have long waiting period and the Indo-Japanese automaker has around 2,50,000 pending orders. While the petrol models are observing waiting period up to 9-12 weeks, the CNG models have waiting period of up to 17-1 weeks.
