All-New Mahindra Scorpio To Launch Between April-June, 2021

Mahindra & Mahindra recently introduced the second-generation model of its highly-popular off-road SUV – Thar. The XUV500 and Scorpio will be next two Mahindra SUVs to receive a generation change. While the former is slated to hit roads between January – March 2021, the latter one will arrive in the second quarter of 2021 (i.e. April – June). Both models will take big leap in terms of design, features and engine mechanism.

Recently, the home-grown carmaker registered new names for the next-generation Scorpio in 4 different formats (Scorpio Sting, the Sting, Sting and Scorpio Sting). The ‘Mahindra Scorpio Sting’ nameplate could be used for the SUV’s all-new model. If reports are to be believed, the carmaker will continue sell the current generation model alongside the new one.

One of the major updated will come in the form of the all-new 2.2L mStallion turbocharged petrol engine. It’s the same powertrain that does duty in the new Thar, but it will be tuned for generating higher power output. The 2021 Mahindra Scorpio petrol version will deliver power around 190bhp and 380Nm of peak torque.

There will also be an updated 2.2L turbo diesel engine on offer. It will produce power around 160bhp with 350Nm of torque. While the oil burner will come with a new 6-speed manual gearbox only, the gasoline unit will be offered with both manual and torque convertor automatic transmissions.

Next-gen Mahindra Scorpio

The new-generation Scorpio will underpin the modified version of the body-on-ladder frame that’s already used in the new Thar. Mahindra will equip the next-generation Scorpio with lots of new goodies including a new touchscreen infotainment system, a new multi-functional steering wheel, new rear AC vents, standard front facing bench seat for the third row, new headlamps with LED DRLs, updated bumper with wide air intakes, a 5-slot grille, extended C-pillar, alloy wheels (for higher trims), new LED taillamps and a larger tailgate.
