All-New Mahindra Scorpio Is In Its Final Testing Phase

The second-generation Mahindra Scorpio is currently in its final testing phase. Recently, a convey of 7-8 near-production Scorpio was caught on camera on the tough terrains of Leh-Manali highway. The model is scheduled to launch in the first half of 2022. The all-new Mahindra Scorpio will underpin the updated ladder frame chassis that’s already used in the new Thar and XUV700. Similar to Mahindra’s new breed cars (like XUV300), the all-new Mahindra Scorpio will have bold character lines running along the sides including a prominent kink on the rear door. Noticeable changes will also be made to its front and rear ends. The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio has been conceptualized and designed at Mahindra’s North American Technical Centre in Detroit, United States. Its engineering and development procedure took place at the Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai.

A new touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity will be one of the major attractions of its interior. The SUV will also a newly-designed dashboard, vertically stacked air con vents with piano black finish, an analogue instrument console with a digital multi information display, dual-tone leatherette upholstery, 4 roof mounted speakers, a 360 degree parking camera, rear AC vents, dual-zone climate control, engine start/stop button, C-type USB charging ports and many more goodies. Reports suggest that the 2022 Mahindra Scorpio will be offered with 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel engines. While the gasoline unit is likely deliver power close to 150bhp, the oil burner will be good for 155bhp with 360Nm. There will be two gearboxes on offer – 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque convertor automatic. The SUV will be offered with the optional AWD (all-wheel-drive) system.
