The Japanese carmaker recently unveiled the Honda SUV e:concept at the 2020 Beiging International Automotive Exhibition in China. The carmaker says that the new electric SUV concept is “indicating the direction of a future mass-production model”. According to a fresh media report, the new electric SUV concept previews the new-generation Honda HR-V that will have its world debut in May 2021.

The Honda SUV e:concept has conventional compact crossover design with angular front featuring a large signature logo and no grille opening. The carmaker hasn’t yet reveal feature and mechanical details of the electric SUV concept. Though, its production model will come with an electric powertrain along with petrol and hybrid engine options. Features such as a new Honda Connect system with smartphone link and AI interface and ‘omnidirectional ADAS’ (advance driver assist systems) might also be on offer.

Talking about the Honda HR-V, the SUV’s new-generation model will share its platform with the new Jazz hatchback. That said, it will come with two powertrains – a 1.0L turbo petrol and a 1.0L petrol with mild hybrid system. In the company’s global product lineup, the HR-V will be placed below the CR-V. Compared to its current generation, the new one will be bigger measuring around 4.4m in length. It will have advanced connectivity features, bigger touchscreen infotainment system, revised dashboard and many more.
