Auction for 1st Mahindra Thar 2020 Crosses Rs 1 Crore Mark

Mahindra & Mahindra had announced that the first unit of the new-generation Thar (Thar #1) would be auctioned online for charity. The raised funds will be donated to select charitable organizations supporting COVID-19 relief work. The registration for the auction opened on 19th September on the company’s official website and on the very first day, the bid crossed Rs 80 lakh mark. Today, September 29th, is the last day of the auction and the bid currently stands at Rs 1.02 crore.

The carmaker has received over 5444 registrations for the 2020 Mahindra Thar #1. The highest bidder will have 5 variants and 6 colours options to choose from. The Thar #1 will have customized badging with the winner’s initials, serial number 1 on the VIN plate and leatherette seats. The winning bid amount will be donated to one of the three organizations engaged in COVID-19 relief work, namely, Naandi Foundation, Swades Foundation and the PM CARES fund.

The carmaker will announce the winner on the Thar #1 auction on 2nd October, the same day its prices will be announced. The 2020 Mahindra Thar will be on offer in two trims – AX and LX – and four engine-gearbox options. One of the major highlights of the new Thar is the new 150bhp, 2.0L turbo petrol engine. The off-road SUV will also be available with a 130bhp, 2.2L diesel engine. Both motors can be had either with a manual gearbox or an automatic transmission. The second-generation Mahindra Thar receives significant changes inside and out including a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and latest smartphone connectivity, a colour MID in the instrument cluster, cruise control, 8-way adjustable front seats, 4-seats layout (front facing rear seats), roll cage, electronic stability programme with rollover mitigation, tyre pressure monitor and many more.
