7 New Car Launches In January 2023 – SUVs, MPV, EVs

2023 is going to kick-off with a bang for the Indian automotive industry as the Delhi Auto Expo is all set to return with several new product launches and unveilings. Talking about the new car launches, there will be at least 7 major models that will go on sale in January 2023. The range will include two SUVs (updated versions), four all-new EVs and a hybrid MPV. Here’re some key details of the upcoming models.

Toyota Innova Hycross Launch Date

Toyota Innova Hycross is surely one the much-anticipated new car launches of the next year. The model will be offered with the 172bhp, 2.0L naturally aspirated petrol and 186bhp, 2.0L strong hybrid powertrain options. It can be had with either 7-seats or 8-seats layout. The hybrid MPV has been packed with the Toyota Safety Sense suite of ADAS (advanced driver assistance system). Features such as a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with the smartphone connectivity, ventilated front seats, 9-speaker JBL audio system, powered leg rest for the second row passengers, a panoramic sunroof, dual zone climate control and several more goodies are also on offer. Prices of the new Mahindra XUV400 will be revealed at the Auto Expo in January 2023. It will be the first pure electric SUV from the home-grown automaker in India. As per the leaked documents, the EV will come in three variants – Base, EP and EL. All variants will be powered by a 39.4kWh battery pack and an electric motor (150bhp/310Nm). It will be capable to do 0 to 100kmph in 8.3 seconds, thus making it the fastest vehicle in its category. It can attain a top speed of 150kmph. Mahindra’s new electric SUV is claimed to deliver a certified range of 456km on a full charge. It will offer three drive modes – Fun, Fast and Fearless along with the segment-first single pedal drive mode – Lively mode. More details here…

Tata Tiago EV

Tata Tiago EV Bookings

Tata Motors has confirmed that the Tiago electric hatchback will go on sale in January. Its prices have already been announced that start from Rs 8.49 lakh and go up to Rs 11.79 lakh. Bookings have already been underway across the country. The Tata Tiago EV can be had with either a 19.2kWh or a 24kWh battery pack. While the former offers a claimed range of 250km, the latter delivers 315km on a full charge. The EV has also been benefited with Tata’s Ziptron high-voltage technology that includes of a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor. The setup delivers a maximum power of 61bhp and 110Nm of torque with the smaller battery pack and 74bhp with 114Nm with the bigger battery pack. More details here…

BYD Atto 3

BYD Atto 3 Range

BYD Atto 3 electric SUV comes with a price tag of Rs 33.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Its among the major new car launches of the next year. The model has already gathered 1500 bookings so far. The carmaker has confirmed that deliveries of its new electric SUV will start in January 2023. Here, it will take on the MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona that priced between Rs 22.58 lakh – Rs 26.50 lakh and Rs 23.84 lakh – Rs 24.03 lakh respectively. It comes with a 60kWh BYD Blade battery and a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor. The setup generates a peak power of 201bhp and 310Nm of torque. The Atto 3 offers an ARAI-certified range of 521km on a single charge. It accelerates 0 to 100kmph in 7.3 seconds. Its battery can be charged up to 80 percent in 50 minutes. Citroen C3 EV

Citroen C3 Brazil Specs

Official launch date of the new Citroen C3 EV is yet to be revealed. Though, it’s likely to witness a market launch before 2023 Delhi Auto Expo. The carmaker says that its upcoming new electric hatchback will be offered at “an affordable price for an EV that that middle class can buy”. Its prices are likely to start from Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). The new C3 EV is expected to come with a 50kWh battery pack and electric motor offering 136PS and 260Nm. It’s the same powertrain that does duty in the Peugeot e-208. It will deliver a range over 350km (WLTP) and its smaller battery pack version will deliver around 300km on a single change. MG Hector/Hector Plus Facelift

2023 MG Hector facelift variants

MG Hector and Hector Plus will arrive with minor cosmetic updates and feature upgrades in January 2023. Both SUVs are likely to come with the ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) along with a fully digital 7-inch configurable instrument cluster. Powering the 2023 MG Hector and Hector Plus will be the same 1.5L turbo petrol hybrid, 2.0L turbo diesel engines making 143PS with 250Nm and 170PS with 350Nm respectively. Transmission options on offer will also be the same 6-speed manual (standard) and a CVT automatic (only on the petrol hybrid variants). A few noticeable changes will be made to its exterior as well.
