BYD (Build Your Dreams), the Chinese electric vehicle maker had presented the globally popular Atto 3 electric SUV in India on October 11, 2022. The company has now officially launched the new BYD Atto 3 electric SUV at a starting price of Rs 33.99 lakh (ex-showroom). BYD has received close to 1500 bookings for the new electric SUV.
Interested buyers can book the new BYD Atto 3 electric SUV online or at authorised BYD dealership at a token amount of Rs 50,000. Deliveries for the first 500 units will commence from January 2023. The new EV is positioned above the Hyundai Kona EV and the MG ZS EV that cost between Rs 23.84 lakh – Rs 24.03 lakh and Rs 22.58 lakh – Rs 26.50 lakh respectively.
Speaking on the price announcement, Sanjay Gopalkrishnan, Senior VP of Electric Passenger Vehicles of BYD India, said, “We are delighted at the overwhelming response from our customers and thank them for joining the EV journey towards a sustainable future. We are happy to announce the price of our much-acclaimed electric SUV BYD Atto 3 in India at INR 33.99 lakhs. We are eager to introduce BYD Atto 3 to the world and plan to expand its availability in the future.”
Based on the e 3.0 platform, the BYD Atto 3 is the brand’s second electric vehicle after e6 MPV in the country. It comes via SKD (semi-knocked down) route and assembled at the brand’s Sriperumbudur based plant near Chennai. It is fitted with a 60kWh BYD Blade battery that is claimed to offer an ARAI-certified range of 521km on a full charge. It has a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor that is claimed to produce 201bhp and 310Nm of torque. It is claimed to achieve 0 to 100kmph in 7.3 seconds. The battery pack can be charged from 0 to 80 percent in 50 minutes.
In terms of proportions, the new BYD Atto 3 is 4455mm long, 1875mm wide and 1615mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2720mm. The new model is offered in 4 colour options – Surf Blue, Boulder Grey, Ski White and Parkour Red. Inside the cabin, the new electric SUV gets a 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, a 5-inch digital driver display, Level 2 ADAS tech, a 360 degree camera and wireless charging. The new model comes with features like 6-way power adjustable driver seat, 4-way adjustable front passenger seat, a panoramic sunroof, front heated seats, leather seats, automatic climate control, etc.
The electric SUV featured LED lighting system and powered tailgate. For safety & security, the electric SUV gets 7 airbags, TPMS, electronic stability program, EBD, ABS, traction control, hill decent control, etc.
