Mahindra XUV400 Electric SUV – 3 Variants, New Details Emerge

Mahindra had unveiled the all-electric XUV400 in the country in first half of September, 2022. Based on the XUV300 compact SUV, the new Mahindra XUV400 electric SUV is scheduled to be launched in the country in January 2023. Ahead of the official launch details, variants and other details of the electric SUV have been leaked on the Internet.

If reports are to be believed, the new Mahindra XUV400 electric SUV will be offered in 3 variants – Base, EP and EL. The top-spec variant will come equipped with features like a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Mahindra’s Adreno X software, electric sunroof and connected car technology with over-the-air (OTA) updates. This top-end variant is fitted with six airbags, all-4 disc brakes, ABS with EBD, traction control, ISOFIX child seat anchorages and others.

The Mahindra XUV400 electric SUV is fitted with features like leatherette upholstery, auto dimming IRVM, front parking sensors, dual-zone climate control, heated ORVMs, 17-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System), etc. The XUV400 will come in 5 colour schemes – Arctic Blue, Galaxy Grey, Everest White, Napoli Black and Infinity Blue with dual-tone roof option in Satin Copper finish.

The Mahindra XUV400 EV comes with a front-axle-mounted electric motor that draws power from a 39.4kWh battery pack. The electric motor pushes out 150bhp of power and 310Nm of peak torque. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph acceleration in just 8.3 seconds, which makes it the quickest in the segment. The SUV has an electronically limited top speed of 150kmph.

Mahindra XUV400 Test Drive

Mahindra claims that the new XUV400 EV will have a certified range of 456km on a single charge. The SUV will also support fast charging system. Using a 50kW FC fast chrger, the XUV400’s battery can be charged from 0 to 80 per cent in 50 minutes. One can charge it 0 to 100% in 6 hours 30 minutes and in 13 hours via a 7.2kW/32A outlet and a standard 3.3kW/16A domestic socket respectively.

The Mahindra XUV400 electric comes with 3 driving modes – Fun, Fast and Fearless. It also offers the segment-first single pedal drive mode – Lively mode. The driving modes adjust the steering and throttle response along with the level of regenerative braking system.

Test drives for the new XUV400 EV will commence from December 2022 across 16 cities, namely, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chennai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Goa, Jaipur, Surat, Nagpur, Trivandrum, Nashik, Chandigarh and Kochi. The new model will be launched across 16 cities in the first phase. Pricing of the new XUV400 will be revealed in January 2023. The new model will be positioned against the Tata Nexon EV Max, MG ZS EV and the Hyundai Kona. We expect the new model to cost somewhere around Rs 18 lakh to Rs 23 lakh (ex-showroom).

Based on the XUV300, the new Mahindra XUV400 electric comes with slightly different styling and more feature-rich cabin. While the XUV300 is a sub-4 meter SUV, the new XUV400 will measure around 4.2 meters in length. It measures 1821mm in width, 1634mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2600mm. The SUV offers the best-in-class boot space of 378-litres/418-litres (up to roof).
