In the next few days, automakers will introduce a wide range of new cars in the Indian market. While Honda will have its City Hybrid, Tata Motors will present the new Electric Coupe SUV concept. In this article, we bring you a list of new car launches and unveilings in the country before the end of April month.
New Tata Electric SUV Concept (April 6)
Tata Motors will showcase the new Electric SUV concept on April 6, 2022. The new model is likely to be based on the Nexon platform. Going by the teaser, it is visible that the new model will be a coupe SUV. The new model is expected to be launched before the end of this year or early next year. Compared to the Nexon, it will have longer rear doors, tapering roof, and all-new rear end with a larger overhang. The Tata Coupe SUV could get a larger 40kWh battery pack with range over 400kms.
Honda City Hybrid (April 14)
Japanese automaker, Honda will present the long-awaited City e:HEV hybrid in the Indian market on April 14, 2022. Select dealers have started taking pre-orders for the sedan. It will come with Honda’s i-MMD hybrid technology featuring two electric motors and a 1.5L 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated Atkinson cycle petrol engine. The vehicle will offer 3 drive modes – Electric, Petrol & Hybrid. On low speeds, the sedan will be able to purely ride on electric mode. It is expected to return a fuel efficiency of over 27kmpl.
New Maruti Ertiga, XL6 (3rd Week Of April)
Maruti Suzuki will launch the Ertiga facelift by mid-April. The company will also introduce the XL6 facelift by the end of this month, between April 20 to 24. Both models will come with cosmetic design changes and upgraded interior. The MPVs will continue to be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 103bhp and 138Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual gearbox will come as standard. Instead of 4-speed torque convertor, the new model is likely to get a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
BMW i4 (April 28)
British luxury carmaker, BMW will introduce the all-electric i4 sedan in the Indian market on April 28, 2022. The electric sedan is propelled by an 83.9kWh battery pack. The eDrive40 RWD offers 335bhp and a range between 493km and 590km, whereas M50 AWD produces 536bhp and offers a range between 416km and 521km. It also supports various chargers with power output ranging from 11kW to 200kW. The new model is likely to arrive as a completely built unit.
Skoda Kushaq Monte Carlo
Czech automaker, Skoda will introduce the Monte Carlo Edition of the Kushaq mid-sized SUV in the country in April 2022. It will come with unique exterior and interior bits; however, the mechanics will remain the same. The SUV will come with a blacked-out treatment on the exterior. The SUV will ride on the new 17-inch alloy wheels (similar to previous-gen Octavia RS 245) shod with 205/55 section tyres. It gets prominent Monte Carlo badging on the front fenders.
The Skoda Kushaq Monte Carlo will come with two petrol engines – a 1.0L 3-cylinder TSI and 1.5L 4-cylinder TSI. While the former is good for 113bhp and 178Nm, the later produces 147bhp and 250Nm. It is likely to be offered with automatic gearbox only. The 1.0L and 1.5L will be offered with 6-speed torque convertor and 7-speed DSG automatic respectively.
