5 Big New SUVs To Unveil at 2023 Auto Expo – Expected List

India’s largest biennial automobile event is all set to return in January 2023. The Delhi Auto Show has been scheduled to take place from 13th to 18th Jan at India Expo Mart in Great Noida. While the list of participants and upcoming models are yet to be revealed, it’s expected there will be 5 major new SUV unveilings. Here’re key details of the upcoming new SUVs that might debut at the 2023 Auto Expo.

Maruti Baleno Cross

Maruti Suzuki’s new compact SUV based on the Baleno hatchback is likely to make its debut at the 2023 Auto Expo. The model is expected to see a release in the month of February and it will be sold via Nexa dealerships. If reports are to be believed, the new Maruti Baleno Cross might come with the 1.0L Boosterjet engine making 102bhp and 150Nm. The motor could be boosted with mild hybrid tech, thus making it more fuel efficient. The Indo-Japanese automaker has begun testing the 5-door Jimny in the country. The off-road SUV will make its global debut at the 2023 Auto Expo in January, followed by its market launch. At the heart of the 5-door Maruti Jimny could be Suzuki’s 1.5L K15C dualjet engine with the 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox options. It will come with a manual operated transfer case for 4WD system. Some of its key features will include a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, a digital instrument cluster, hill hold assist, height adjustable driver’s seat, etc. More details here…

The South Korean automaker might unveil the updated Hyundai Creta at the biennial auto event. Major update will come in the form of the ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) technology. The SUV will also receive an updated digital instrument console and BlueLink connected car tech. On the exterior, the new 2023 Hyundai Creta facelift will feature new parametric grille merging neatly with the LED DRLs, updated bumper, wider air-inlet, new LED taillamps and revised tailgate design with sharp creases. Mahindra & Mahindra is likely to showcase the 5-door version of the Thar SUV at the Delhi Auto Expo in January 2023. The model will have longer wheelbase than its 2-door version enabling it to accommodate an additional row of seats. It might get metal hard top. For power, the 5-door Mahindra Thar will use the same 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel engines that do duty in the 2-door Thar. Though, the power and torque figures could be different for the bigger one. The off-road SUV can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. Tata Harrier Facelift

Tata Motors hasn’t yet revealed its plan for the 2023 Delhi Auto Expo. If reports are to be believed, the Pune-based carmaker might unveil the 2023 Tata Harrier facelift at the auto event. The SUV is likely to come with ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) along with the ventilated seats, a 360 degree surround view camera and air purifier. The infotainment system could also be updated supporting wireless smartphone connectivity. A few changes will also be made to its exterior including a new grille, revised headlamps and front bumper and newly-designed alloy wheels. The new Harrier is likely to be offered with a new 1.5L turbo petrol engine making 150bhp. The existing 2.0L Kryotech diesel will also be on offer. More details here…
