Nissan India has big plans for 2023 and 2024. The company is reportedly planning to expand its SUV portfolio with multiple new models including the X-Trail, new Duster-based 5 and 7-seater SUVs and the new-generation Kicks. Though we have seen Nissan making such claims in the past as well, nothing has materialized so far. In fact, the X-Trail, Juke and Qashqai were showcased to the Indian media a couple of times. Let’s take a look at key details of the expected upcoming Nissan SUVs.
Nissan X-Trail
Nissan X-Trail is reported to hit showrooms by mid 2023. Globally, the SUV is offered with two seating configurations (5 and 7-seats) and two engine options – 1.5L turbo petrol with mild hybrid and 1.5L turbo petrol with strong hybrid tech. It’s a premium executive SUV based on Renault-Nissan’s CMF-C platform, measuring 4680mm in length, 2065mm in width and 1725mm in height. The 7-seater version’s middle and third row seats have split ratio of 40:20:40 and 50:50 respectively. On the feature front, you will get a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.8-inch HUD, ADAS (advanced driver assistance system), electronic parking brake and tri-zone climate control. New Nissan Kicks
The new-generation Nissan Kicks was recently caught testing overseas and its global debut is likely to happen towards the end of 2023. The SUV’s new model is likely to be designed on the advanced and modular CMF-B platform instead of the existing M0 architecture. The spy images hint that the 2024 Nissan Kicks will have taller and more upright stance. Upfront, there will be a new two-part grille, a flatter nose and X-Trail-inspired split headlamp setup. The vertically placed taillamps, steeply raked rear windscreen and flatter tailgate will add more to its new looks. Rumour has it that the all-new Kicks could get Nissan’s e-Power hybrid powertrain that includes a 1.5L petrol engine, a battery pack and an electric motor. More details here…
Duster-Based 5/7-Seater SUVs
As mentioned above, the upcoming Nissan SUVs lineup will include two models based on the new-generation Renault Duster. Similar to its donor model, the SUVs are expected to be offered with two seating layouts – 5 and 7-seats. These models will be based on the modular CMF-B architecture and share most of their features, components and powertrains with the new Duster. The latter one is reported to be offered with mild and strong hybrid powertrain options.
