3 Upcoming Maruti Cars Could Be Called Solido, Espaco, Libertas

Maruti Suzuki has filed for trademarks of its upcoming three new models. According to a fresh media report, the Indo-Japanese carmaker has trademarked Solido, Easpaco and Libertas names that might be used internally for the upcoming new products. The company is currently working on a number of new models including the next-generation Celerio, Alto and an electric vehicle. The aforementioned names are a bit off-beat considering Maruti Suzuki’s model nomenclature history. Having said that, these names would perfectly suit their electric range.

The carmaker’s first electric car is slated to launch sometime next year. Based on the Maruti Suzuki WagonR, the electric hatchback has been caught testing multiple times in the country. It will underpin Suzuki’s Heartect platform and is likely to come with standard and fast charging options. If reports are to be believed, the Maruti WagonR electric will offer a range of 150km on a full charge. Its battery can be charged 100% in 7 hours via a regular power socket and 1 hour (up to 80%) via fast charger. Most of its design bits and features are expected to be carried over from the regular WagonR.

As mentioned above, the Indo-Japanese carmaker is ready to give a generation change to the Maruti Suzuki Celerio during this festive season. The hatchback’s new model will be designed on Heartect platform and witness significant cosmetic and feature upgrades. In fact, the carmaker will make dimensional changes to the hatch. It might come with 1.0L petrol (67bhp/90Nm) and 1.2L petrol (77bhp/113Nm) engine options. Both manual and AMT gearboxes will be on offer.

The new-generation Suzuki Alto will make its world debut in December, 2020. The hatchback’s Japan-spec model will come with a new R06D type engine making 48bhp. There will also be a turbocharged engine for “sporty driving experience”. In India, the Maruti Suzuki Alto is reported to be replaced with a new entry-level model based on the Heartect architecture.
