3 Upcoming Mahindra UVs with Turbocharged Petrol Engines in 2020

Mahindra & Mahindra, the homegrown automaker is working on several new SUVs including new generation models of the existing SUVs. The company has confirmed that all the upcoming SUVs will be equipped with petrol engine options. This year, Mahindra will introduce 3 SUVs – the next-gen Thar, 2020 XUV300 Sportz and the 2020 Marazzo Petrol.

All three UVs will be equipped with turbocharged petrol engines. Mahindra had revealed the new mStallion petrol engine range at the 2020 Auto Expo. 3 new engines were showcased including the new 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol, a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol and a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol.

Mahindra XUV300 Sportz Specs

While the 2020 Mahindra XUV300 Sportz will be equipped with the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, the next Thar and the Marazzo petrol will receive the 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine. The XUV300 Sportz was scheduled to be launched in April; however, the launch has been delayed due to COVID-19 Pandemic. It is expected that the Sportz will be launched in May or June 2020.

The Mahindra XUV300 Sportz with 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine will become the most powerful in its segment. This new direct injection, turbocharged gasoline unit churns out 130bhp of power and 230Nm of torque. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox. This will make it 20bhp more powerful and 30Nm torquier than the existing BS6-compliant XUV300.

2020 Mahindra Thar Launch Date

On the flip side, the next-gen Thar and the Marazzo BS6 will get the 1.5-litre T-GDI turbocharged petrol engine. The new T-GDI engines are fitted with integrated exhaust manifolds, off-set crankshafts, dual-mass flywheels and 250 bar fuel injection rail systems. The new 1.5-litre TGDI petrol engine is capable of producing a maximum power output of 163bhp and a peak torque of 280Nm. Power will be transmitted to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox. The company will also introduce the petrol versions of the next-gen Scorpio and the XUV500.
