3 New Sedans Launched In 2022 – Honda, VW, Skoda

2022 has been a happening and busy year for automakers in India with several new product launches across segments. While SUVs continued to rule the number of launches, there are multiple new arrivals in the hatchback and sedan segments. This year, we have witness three major launches in the mid-size sedan space including the Skoda Slavia, Volkswagen Virtus and Honda City e-HEV. Here’re some key details of the new sedans that hit our roads this year.

While the Skoda Slavia was introduced earlier this year, while the Volkswagen Virtus went on sale in June 2022. Both sedans have been designed on Volkswagen Group’s localized MQB-A0-IN platform and share most of their features, design elements and powertrains. The Slavia and Virtus can be had with a 115bhp, 1.0L, 3-cylinder TSI petrol or a 121bhp, 1.5L, naturally aspirated petrol engine. While the former delivers a claimed fuel economy of 19.47kkpl with manual gearbox and 18.07kmpl with automatic transmission, the latter promises 18.4kmpl. Both models measure 4561mm in length, 1752mm in width and 1507mm in height with a wheelbase of 2651mm.

Honda City e-HEV

2022 Honda City Hybrid Mileage

Launched in May 2022, the Honda City hybrid comes with an Atkinson Cycle 1.5L, 4-cylinder petrol engine paired to two electric motors. The gasoline unit delivers a maximum power of 98bhp and with electric assistance it offers 109bhp. The torque figure stands at 253Nm. The hybrid sedan is available with a single, fixed-gear ratio and three drive modes – Engine, EV and Hybrid. It returns a claimed mileage of 26.5kmpl. The Honda City hybrid has been equipped with ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) along with 37 Honda Connect with Smartwatch integration and Ok Google and Alexa compatibility, an 8-speaker premium audio system, an updated 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with the smartphone connectivity, a 7-inch colour TFT meter with hybrid/sensing graphics, and more.
