3 New Cars Unveiling In Coming Weeks

In the next couple of weeks, the Indian automotive industry will witness three major product unveiling from Maruti Suzuki, Citroen and MG. While the Indo-Japanese automaker will announce prices of its new Maruti Fronx compact crossover, the MG Comet small electric car and Citroen C3 Aircross SUV will debut on 19th and 27th April 2023. The Maruti Fronx is the compact crossover based on the Baleno hatchback that will be offered in five trims – Sigma, Delta, Delta+, Zeta and Alpha. For power, the model uses a 1.0L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol Boosterjet and a 1.2L, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. Both units have Suzuki’s SHVS mild hybrid tech. The Boosterjet motor pushes out a claimed power of 100bhp and 147.6Nm of torque. The NA gasoline unit is good enough for 90bhp and 113Nm. There are three gearbox options – a 5-speed manual (standard), a 5-speed AMT (for the NA variants only) and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic (for the turbo-petrol variants only). Citroen C3 Aircross

The new Citroen SUV will be the fourth offering from the French automaker in India. Called the Citroen C3 Aircross, the SUV is likely to measure over 4.2 meters in length that means it will be as big as the Hyundai Creta. It will be built on the modular CMP platform, sourced from the C3 hatchback. Under the hood, the new Citroen SUV is expected to feature a 1.2L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol and a 1.2L, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. While the former makes a peak power of 110bhp with 190Nm of torque, the latter delivers 82bhp with 115Nm. More details here…

MG Comet

MG Comet EV Price

Measuring around 2,974mm in length, the MG Comet will be the smallest electric car in the country. In terms of price and positioning, it will take on the Tata Tiago EV. The Comet is a three-door hatchback, based on the Wuling Air EV that’s sold in Indonesia. Here, it could be offered with a 20kWh battery pack and a single, rear-axle electric motor making power close to 45bhp. The carmaker will source its battery pack from Tata AutoComp. Its range is expected to be around 250km on a single charge. More details here…
