Nissan’s Hyundai Creta Rival SUV – Launch & Key Details

Renault and Nissan have planned 4 new SUVs for the Indian market that will go on sale by 2026. The plan outlines new B+ and C-segment SUVs – codenamed P1311-R and P-1312-R for Renault and P1311-N and P-1312-N for Nissan models. The carmakers aim to produce 1,50,000 units of the SUVs per annuum that will be sold in domestic and export markets. The total production and sales target is around 3.5 lakh units per annumm by 2026.

The upcoming Renault and Nissan SUVs will underpin the CMF-B platform and the first model is reported to hit showrooms during 2025 Diwali season. It’s likely to be the new-generation Renault Duster 5-seater, which will be followed by its 7-seater version by mid 2026. Nissan will also bring in its 5-seater Duster version near around festive season in 2025. The model will be put up against the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Toyota Hyryder.

New Renault Duster Launch

The new Nissan SUV is likely to carry Magnite-inspired design elements, while some of its styling bits could be similar to the new Duster. Initially, the SUV will be introduced with petrol engines only. The carmaker might bring in its hybrid or electric version at a later stage, if there will be demand. The electric powertrain could be a CBU unit and reserved for the higher trims.

Besides launching the new SUVs, the alliance will focus on increasing utilization of its production plant capacity to 80% in the coming years. Nissan, which already has 1.5% market share, aims to increase it to 3%. The Japanese automaker has also planned to introduce a three-row SUV, based on the new 7-seater Duster. The model will compete against Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming 7-seater SUV along with the Hyundai Alcazar and Tata Safari.
