Maruti Fronx, the new compact crossover from the Indo-Japanese automaker, will go on sale next week. Though, its exact launch date is yet to be announced. Based on the Baleno hatchback, the model will challenge multiple products right from Tata Punch and Hyundai’s upcoming micro SUV to Nissan Magite and Renault Kiger. Turbo Power
The Fronx can be had with either a 1.0L, 3-cylinder Boosterjet petrol or a 1.2L K-Series petrol engine. While the former makes a top power of 100bhp and 147.6Nm with a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox, the latter delivers 90bhp and 113Nm with a 5-speed manual and an AMT transmission.
High On Mileage
As per the leaked information, the Fronx’s 1.2L petrol version promises a fuel efficiency of 21.79kmpl (MT) and 22.98kmpl (AT). The 1.0L variants delivers a mileage of 21.5kmpl with the manual gearbox and 20.01kmpl with the automatic transmission. Read – Maruti Jimny 5-Door SUV Launch Details Out
5 Variants – Break-Up
The crossover will come in Sigma, Delta, Delta+, Zeta and Alpha trims. The 1.2L NA engine will be available on the Sigma, Delta and Delta+ with the standard manual gearbox. An AMT unit can be had only with the Delta and Delta+ trims. The 1.0L turbo will be offered on the Delta+, Zeta and Alpha with the standard manual transmission. The Zeta and Alpha will get the automatic gearbox option.
The standard feature kit includes automatic climate control, keyless entry and go, fabric seat upholstery, powered windows, tilt adjustment for steering, 60:40 rear seat split, dual-tone interior, hill hold assist, reverse parking sensors, electronic stability program, rear defogger, steel wheels with wheel covers and halogen projector headlamps.
Features such as 360 degree camera, cruise control, HUD unit, leather wrapped steering wheel, dual-tone exterior colours and 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels are exclusively offered on the range-topping Alpha trim. The new Maruti Fronx also comes with a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, OAT, electrically adjustable wing mirrors, voice assistance, steering mounted controls, 6-speaker sound system, Suzuki connected car features, rear AC vents, coloured MID in instrument cluster, height adjustable driver’s seat, wireless charger and more.
Expected Price Range
While its prices will officially be revealed in coming days, the Maruti Fronx is expected to be priced at Rs 8 lakh for the base variant and Rs 11 lakh for the top-end variant.
