3 Mid-Sized SUVs With Electric Powertrain Coming This Year

India’s largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki will finally enter the electric vehicle segment with an all-new electric SUV this year. To be based on the eVX concept, the new Maruti Suzuki e-SUV will be a mid-sized SUV and will have dimensions similar to the Grand Vitara. Similarly, Hyundai and Tata Motors will also introduce their respective electric SUVs in the country before the end of 2024.

Tata Motors has announced to launch the Curvv EV SUV Coupe in the country by mid-2024. It will be based on Tata’s new Gen 2 EV architecture, called the Acti.ev, which is compatible with different body styles and battery pack options. The Curvv EV will share the interior features with the new Harrier and the Nexon. It will have a large touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument console, ADAS tech and many more. The Tata Curvv EV is likely to be fitted with a bigger battery pack than the Nexon EV and is expected to offer a range of up to 500km on a single charge. Read More….

The Korean automaker, Hyundai will finally have its India-centric electric SUV based on the Creta ICE. The Hyundai Creta EV is scheduled to make its India debut before the end of 2024, while launch is expected in the first quarter of 2025. The electric SUV will have unique exterior styling, which will be different from the newly launched Creta facelift. It is likely to share some of the interior features with the Ioniq 5. The all-electric SUV will be fitted with a 45kWh battery pack, which is surprised from LG Chem. It is likely to share the electric motor with the latest-gen, Kona EV on sale in global markets. Maruti Suzuki will present the production version of the eVX electric SUV concept in the Indian market by October 2024. The new model will be built on a new skateboard platform, internally known as 27PL. The EV will be manufactured at Suzuki’s Gujarat based manufacturing plant. The concept measures around 4.3 meters in length, 1.8 meters in width and 1.6 meters in height, and has a wheelbase of 2.7 meters. The SUV will be feature-loaded, equipped with a larger touchscreen infotainment unit and a digital instrument console. It will have an electrically adjustable driver’s seat. The SUV will offer multiple airbags and other safety features including the adavnced driver assistance systems (ADAS). The production version of the Maruti Suzuki eVX electric SUV is likely to be offered with a 60kWh battery pack with LFP blade cell and is expected to offer a range of up to 550km on a single charge. The production version could also receive a 48kWh battery pack with close to 400km real-world range. More details…
