Hyundai Creta EV Launch In 2024? – Fresh Details Out

Hyundai Motor India has ambitious plans for the upcoming year. The automaker is set to kick off the year with the launch of the Creta facelift on January 16, 2024. Following this, the updated Alcazar and Tucson SUVs will be introduced. Additionally, reports suggest that Hyundai will unveil its first mass-market electric SUV, the Creta EV, which has been spotted testing multiple times with and without camouflage. This electric SUV will go head-to-head with Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming eVX concept-based electric SUV scheduled for the second half of 2024.

Compared to its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart, the Hyundai Creta EV will exhibit distinct features with an electric vehicle (EV)-specific design. It is expected to be based on the facelifted Creta, featuring headlamps with a split pattern, cube-like detailing, H-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRLs), and an updated tailgate similar to the Exter. In terms of features, the electric Creta will closely resemble the ICE version.

According to media reports, the Hyundai Creta EV will be offered with a small 45kWh battery pack sourced from LG Chem. The electric motor, borrowed from the global-spec Kona EV, will be positioned at the front axle, producing a peak power of 138bhp and a maximum torque of 255Nm. In contrast, its primary competitor, the upcoming Maruti Suzuki eVX, will be available with two battery options – 48kWh and 60kWh.

Turning our attention to the 2024 Hyundai Creta facelift, the ICE version of the SUV will retain the existing 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5L diesel engines. However, the engine bay will witness the addition of a new 160bhp, 1.5L turbo petrol unit, available with both manual and automatic (7-speed DCT) transmissions. The new Creta will come equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) technology, a 360-degree camera, a fully digital instrument cluster, and new color schemes for seat upholstery.
