After New Swift, Maruti Suzuki EVX Electric SUV Spied In India

Maruti Suzuki has started testing multiple new models including the new gen Swift on the Indian roads. For the first time, the Suzuki EVX electric SUV has been caught testing in India. This electric SUV was earlier spotted in Poland. Both models were showcased at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo. The production-ready model is expected to make global debut sometime in 2024, while India launch expected in late 2024 or early 2025.

Maruti Suzuki EVX – New Born-EV Platform

The Maruti Suzuki EVX electric SUV was caught testing in Gurgaon, near the company production facility. MSIL is yet to reveal details about the architecture, which will be used to develop the EVX electric SUV. However, reports reveal that the new model will be built on a new skateboard platform, internally known as 27PL. This architecture will be derived from Toyota’s 40PL electric skateboard architecture. This EV will be manufactured at Suzuki’s Gujarat based manufacturing plant. Similar to Maruti Suzuki, Toyota will also launch a new electric SUV for the Indian market.

Design & Interior

MSIL had showcased the EVX concept at the 2023 Auto Expo. The concept measures around 4.3 meters in length, 1.8 meters in width and 1.6 meters in height, and has a wheelbase of 2.7 meters. The spotted model looks largely identical to the concept, featuring an upright front fascia. It comes with a blanked-out grille, flanked by L-shaped headlamps and a smooth bumper with curves and creases.

The SUV gets wrap-around tail-lamps with a silver connected bar, C-pillar integrated rear door handles, and an integrated roof spoiler. The e-SUV has a tapered roofline that gives it a coupe-like stance. The electric SUV has massive cladding all-around the body that gives it a rugged appeal.

Previous spy images reveal that the cabin of the Maruti Suzuki eVX will be feature-loaded. It will have a large screen right behind the two-spoke steering wheel for the instrumentation as well as the infotainment unit. It has a clutter free dashboard layout with vertically stacked air con vents and a rotary dial dial on the centre console. It will also come with an electrically adjustable driver’s seat. The SUV will offer multiple airbags and other safety features including the adavnced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

Powertrain

The Maruti Suzuki eVX electric SUV will be offered with a 60kWh battery pack with LFP blade cell and is expected to offer a range of up to 550km on a single charge. The production version could also receive a smaller battery pack with close to 400km real-world range.
