These 3 Maruti Cars Likely To Get Powerful 1500cc Petrol Engine

The upcoming Ciaz facelift, S-Cross crossover and new-gen Ertiga are likely to be powered by new 1.5-litre VVT petrol engine

We informed you earlier about Maruti’s upcoming cars that will be equipped with in-house developed 1.5-litre diesel engine. If reports are to be believed, this engine will debut with the Ciaz facelift and will also power the S-Cross, Baleno Facelift and the upcoming new-generation Ertiga. For people not in the know, Suzuki had showcased the new-generation Ertiga at the 2018 Indonesia International Motor Show. This model is equipped with a newly developed 1.5-litre VVT petrol engine that replaces the 1.4-litre K-Series unit. If reports are to be believed, this engine will also power the India-spec new Ertiga which is likely to be launched before festive season, Diwali. This engine is capable of producing 105bhp of maximum power and 138Nm of torque. Not just Ertiga, this engine will also power the upcoming Ciaz facelift and S-Cross crossover. The Maruti S-Cross is currently available in diesel avatar only. With price gap between petrol and diesel is very little, the demand for petrol cars are on rise again. Previous reports claim that Maruti is considering the petrol version of the S-Cross crossover and there is possibility that the petrol avatar of the car could feature this new engine. Besides new Ertiga and S-Cross, the new 1.5-litre VVT petrol engine will also power the Ciaz facelift. The current model is equipped with 1.4-litre petrol engine, which is less powerful compared to its direct rivals – Hyundai Verna and Honda City. We believe that this engine could also power the Maruti Vitara Brezza, which is currently available in diesel version only. The company is planning to launch the petrol version of the Brezza, which is speculated to be powered by a 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine. The company could also opt for the naturally aspirated 1.5-litre engine. However, nothing official has been revealed by the automaker.
