Upcoming Maruti Ertiga Diesel To Get 6-Speed Manual Gearbox

New Maruti Ertiga Unveiled

The new-generation Maruti Suzuki Ertiga will be available with two engine options – 1.5-litre VVT petrol and 1.5-litre diesel

India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki will launch the new-generation Ertiga in the second half of this year. For people not in the known, Suzuki had unveiled the new Ertiga at the 2018 Indonesia International Motor Show. The MPV has already been spotted several times during its test rounds on Indian roads. Like the new Swift and Dzire, the new Ertiga will be based on Suzuki’s new-generation HEARTECT platform.

If rumors are to be believed, Maruti will offer all-new in-house developed 1.5-litre diesel engine. Adding to it, the new Ertiga will be equipped with Suzuki’s new 1.5-litre VVT petrol engine producing 104bhp and 138Nm of torque. This engine will replace the 1.4-litre K-Series petrol engine. If latest media report is to be believed, the diesel avatar of the new Ertiga will be equipped with a new 6-speed manual gearbox. This MPV is also likely to receive AMT gearbox. Based on Suzuki’s new-generation HEARTECT platform, the new Ertiga is 99mm longer, 40mm wider and 5mm taller than the outgoing model. This MPV is 4,395mm long, 1,735mm wide and 1,690mm tall; however, the wheelbase of the car remains unchanged at 2,740mm. The boot space of the MPV has been increased by 18-litres to 153-litres. In terms of design, the new Ertiga looks more evolved and premium than the outgoing car. Majority of the changes offered on the front fascia, featuring newly designed hexagonal grille with chrome treatment, more sculpted bonnet, projector headlamps, new bumper with wider air-dam and newly developed fog lamp. New Maruti Ertiga Preview

Inside the cabin, the new Ertiga shares design cues from the new Dzire compact sedan. It will be equipped with Suzuki’s new SmartPlay infotainment system with a 6.8-inch floating touchscreen display with large black bezel, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, new automatic climate control, new HVAC controls with circular vents and rear air-conditioning vents, etc.
