25 Lakh Maruti Swift Sold So Far; New-Gen Model Debut In 2022

Launched in 2005, the Maruti Suzuki Swift has clocked cumulative sales of 2.5 million units in the country. In its 16 years of existence, the hatchback has always been favoured for its modern styling, efficient powertrains and drivability. Mr. Shashank Srivastava, Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said that the Swift was India’s top-selling car of fiscal year 2020-2021. It’s the only car to win the ICOTY awards for all three generations. He also revealed that over 52% customers of Swift are below the age of 35 years showing its popularity among young buyers. At present, the Maruti Swift is available in the price range of Rs 5.84 lakh – Rs 8.52 lakh (all, ex-showroom). The model lineup comes in 9 variants powered by 1.2L Dualjet petrol engine that makes power worth 90bhp and 113Nm of torque. The motor has been boosted with start/stop function that improves its fuel efficiency. It returns an ARAI-certified mileage of 23.20kmpl with manual gearbox and 23.7kmpl with automatic transmission.

Just so you know, the Swift received a facelift earlier this year with minor cosmetic and feature upgrades. The 2021 model year comes with the a new grille with cross mesh pattern and a chrome accent, LED headlamps, auto folding ORVMs, new fabric seat upholstery, a new audio head unit, coloured MID, cruise control, automatic climate control, rear view camera and a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

If reports are to be believed, the Suzuki Swift will enter into its new-generation next year. The hatchback’s new model will underpin an entirely new platform that will be lighter, safer and more rigid than the Heartect architecture. Globally, the 2022 Swift will be offered with a more refined 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine with a stronger hybrid system. The hatchback’s new generation model will also make its way to India sometime in 2022 or 2023.
