All-New Suzuki Swift Coming In 2022; A More-Powerful Swift Sport In 2023

We informed you earlier that Suzuki is working on the next-generation Swift hatchback. A new report claims that the all-new Suzuki Swift will make global debut in mid-2022. Adding to it, the company is also developing the next generation Swift Sport. The new Swift Sport is reportedly to make global debut in early 2023.

It is reported that the all-new Suzuki Swift will be based on the newly developed platform. The new lightweight platform will make the new model lighter. The platform is reportedly to be more safer and rigid compared to the existing HEARTECT platform. The new model will come with an evolutionary styling.

A new rendering shows the possible design of the all-new Suzuki Swift, which retains the overall profile of the existing model. The render has more aggressive front profile with blackened grille, slimmer headlamps with LED DRLs, and new multi-spoke alloys. The rear door handle is integrated in the C-pillar, and there is a strong beltline that runs across the length to merge the wrap-around taillamps.

The report also claims that the all-new Swift will receive a new refined version of the 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated 4-cylinder petrol engine with hybrid system. It is likely to get a stronger hybrid system, which should improve the overall fuel efficiency. The India-spec Swift is offered with a 82bhp, 1.2L NA petrol and a 89bhp, 1.2L Dual-Jet petrol engine with SHVS mild hybrid system.

The report claims that the next generation Suzuki Swift Sport will be unveiled in 2023. The new model is likely to receive a more powerful engine with stiffer chassis to further improve its appeal as a subcompact hot hatch. It is expected to receive a more refined 1.4-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine (Boosterjet) with the 48-volt mild hybrid system. This powertrain will be revised to provide an increased power output.

In the current form, the new Suzuki Swift Sport’s 1.4L engine offers 138bhp of power at 5,500rpm and a peak torque of 230Nm at 2,500-3,000rpm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed gearbox. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph acceleration in just 8 seconds before hitting a top speed of 210kmph.
