Toyota has introduced the new Corolla Cross GR Sport in Taiwan. It is essentially a kitted-up version of the crossover. It gets the same changes that we have already seen on the Corolla and Hilux.
In terms of styling, the new Toyota Corolla Cross GR Sport gets a unique front fascia. It comes with a different bumper design with a striking underguard. The fog lamps have been moved up and are enclosed in blacked-out trim. The mesh design is also added to the lower intake, which is also applied on the main grille.
It gets an additional black garnish as well as a thick bar that runs across the width. The Corolla Cross GR Sport comes with redesigned rocker panels and a rear underguard that looks rugged. Dual-tone paint scheme is also on offer.
There’s a GR badge on the tailgate. Inside the cabin, the crossover has a dedicated boot screen for the 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an engine start button with GR lettering, and seats with “GR” embossed on the headrests.
The company has also made changes to the mechanics of the Corolla Cross GR Sport. It comes with sports suspension and a chassis reinforcement brace. The vehicle will be offered with two engine options – a 2ZR-FE 1.8-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine and a 1.8L hybrid engine.
The naturally-aspirated engine produces 140PS and 172Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a Super CVT-i gearbox. The hybrid setup comprises of a 98PS, 1.8L engine, an electric motor (72 PS and 163 Nm), a nickel-metal hydride battery and an E-CVT. The vehicle offers a combined power output of 122PS.
As standard, the Corolla Cross GR Sport comes with an 18-inch alloy wheels, halogen projector headlamps, keyless entry and start, a 4.2-inch MID (hybrid gets a 7-inch unit), Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 suite, seven airbags, etc.
