Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has planned a range of new models for the coming years. While the Toyota Innova Hycross-based – Engage MPV – will arrive before this Diwali season, it will bring in the new-generation Swift hatchback by February 2024. Sources tell us that the all-new Swift will be followed by the next-gen Dzire by April – May 2024.
Both models are expected to come with significantly improved design, upmarket interior and highly-fuel efficient powertrains. While the carmaker hasn’t yet revealed details of the new 2024 Maruti Swift and Dzire, the models are reported to be offered with a new 1.2L, 3-cylinder petrol engine boosted with Toyota’s strong hybrid technology.
If media reports are to be believed, the new Swift and Dzire will beat all cars in terms of mileage. Both will promise an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of around 35-40kmpl. The new strong hybrid powertrain will also meet the CAFÉ II (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) standards. The lower variants of the 2024 Maruti Swift and Dzire will continue to come with the existing 1.2L Dualjet petrol engine and CNG fuel options. Transmissions will also be carried forward from the current models – i.e. a 5-speed manual and an AMT.
Interior could be updated with new SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, OTA (over-the-air updates) and Suzuki voice assist. The new 2024 Maruti Swift is likely to come with more angular stance along with the new front grille, sleeker headlamps with new LED elements, revised front bumper, faux air vents, pronounced wheel arches, blacked-out pillars, a roof mounted spoiler and new body panels.
The new Maruti Swift strong hybrid and Dzire strong hybrid versions will be priced around Rs 1 lakh – Rs 1.50 lakh premium over their standard petrol counterparts. As of now, the hatchback comes with the price range of Rs 5.99 lakh – Rs 9.03 lakh and the Dzire costs between Rs 6.51 lakh – Rs 9.39 lakh (all, ex-showroom).
