New Maruti Swift – Sportier Design, More Features, All Key Details

The Japanese automaker has already started testing the new-generation Suzuki Swift hatchback that’s reported to debut in Q2, 2023. Globally, the new model might go on sale towards the end of 2023 or early 2024. If reports are to be believed, the all-new Swift might make its way to India sometime in 2024. Significant changes are expected to be made inside and out. The new Maruti Swift might also witness major upgrade under the hood along with the modified Heartect platform.

The 2024 Maruti Swift (codenamed YED) will employ a new 1.2L, 3-cylinder petrol engine that will be benefited with Toyota’s strong hybrid technology. As per media reports, the hatchback’s new model will promise a fuel efficiency of around 35-40kmpl (ARAI-certified). With this upgrade, the new Swift will become the most fuel efficient car in the country. In fact, it will also comply with the upcoming stricter CAFÉ II (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) norms. The existing 1.2L Dualjet petrol engine offers a claimed mileage of 23.76kmpl. The lower variant of the new Maruti Swift will be made available with the existing gasoline unit and CNG fuel option.

2023 Maruti Swift Changes

Compared to the current generation, the new one will carry more angular stance and look sportier. Upfront, the hatchback will feature a newly-designed grille and sleeker headlamps with new LED elements. Other design changes will include the updated front bumper, blacked-out pillars, faux air vents on wheel arches, new body panels and a roof mounted spoiler. The carmaker might update its interior with the new SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system. The unit could be compatible to the wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. It will also get Suzuki voice assist and OTA (over-the-air updates).

Prices of the new Maruti Swift will surely be higher than the current generation model. Its strong hybrid expected to be around Rs 1 lakh – Rs 1.50 lakh more expensive than the non-hybrid version.
