Tata’s top-selling model – Nexon – is ready to receive a mid-life update this year. While the carmaker hasn’t yet revealed its launch details, a fresh media report suggests that it could hit roads near around June – July, 2023. The subcompact SUV will witness some noticeable cosmetic changes along with a bunch of feature upgrades. Rumour has it that the new 2023 Tata Nexon could get the brand’s new 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine that was showcased at this year’s Auto Expo. The motor pushes out a peak power of 123bhp and 225Nm of torque.
The existing 1.5L turbo diesel engine that’s good for 115bhp and 260Nm will also be on offer. The updated Nexon can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT gearbox. The report further states that it might get the DCT (dual-clutch transmission) automatic gearbox as we have seen in the Altroz. Tata’s DCT gearbox is said to be designed specially for Indian climatic and driving conditions. The unit has active cooling technology and machine learning along with the shift-by-wire technology. The SUV will continue to come with three drive modes – Eco, City and Sport.
Speculations are on rife that Tata might introduce ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) tech on the higher trims of the new Nexon. There could also be a new steering wheel, a new 7-inch digital TFT instrument cluster and new upholstery. Features such as iRA connectivity suite, leather wrapped steering wheel and gearshift knob, wearable smart key, rear power outlet, height adjustable driver seat, tyre pressure monitoring system and cruise control will be carried forward from the existing model.
On the exterior, the new 2023 Tata Nexon facelift will have headlamps with X-shaped lighting element , an LED light strip running across the front, new alloys and updated LED taillamps connected via LED DRL.
