Kia has silently introduced the 2023 Carens MPV, which now comes with new powertrains, gearboxes and new features. The company has also released the new prices on its official website. The 2023 Kia Carens is now available in the price bracket of Rs 10.45 lakh to Rs 18.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The 2023 Kia Carens gets a new 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that also powers the Hyundai Alcazar and the soon-to-be-launched new-gen Verna. This engine replaces the 1.4-litre turbo petrol unit, which is not upgraded to meet the BSVI Phase 2 or RDE emission norms. The new powertrain is capable of producing 160PS and 253Nm of torque. It delivers 20PS more power and 11Nm more torque compared to the 1.4L turbo engine.
Instead of the manual gearbox, the 2023 Kia Carens come fitted with iMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission). It also gets a 7-speed DCT (dual-clutch automatic transmission). The Carens 1.5L iMT is available in the price bracket of Rs 12 lakh to Rs 17.55 lakh, which makes it up to 50,000 pricier than the older Carens 1.4L engine. The DCT version of the Carens turbo is priced between Rs 15.75 lakh and Rs 18.45 lakh, which is 50,000 more than the 1.4L turbo DCT.

The diesel version of the Carens is powered by a 1.5L turbo unit that produces 115PS and 250Nm of torque. With the 2023 iteration, Kia has replaced the 6-speed manual gearbox with an iMT transmission. It is also available with a six-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox.
The diesel iMT is available in the price bracket of Rs 12.65 lakh to Rs 18 lakh. The iMT variants are now costlier by Rs 50,000 compared to the diesel manual variants. The diesel automatic is reserved for the top-spec Luxury Plus trim. The 6-seater Luxury Plus variant is now costlier by Rs 50,000, while the 7-seater gets expensive by Rs 45,000.
More Standard Features
Kia has added multiple features as standard in the Carens MPV. It gets a 12.5-inch digital instrument console as standard. This feature was earlier offered from the second-to-base Prestige variant. The Kia connected car tech now supports Alexa connectivity. The Prestige Plus trim is now available with a leather-wrapped gear knob. The MPV comes fitted with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, electric one-touch folding 2nd row seats, ventilated front seats and an electric sunroof.
