The new-generation Hyundai Verna is all set to hit Indian roads in coming months. Ahead of its market launch, the South Korean automaker has started accepting bookings for the new model at Rs 25,000. Besides this, the company has released three teasers of the sedan showing its silhouette, double layer headlamp setup and a newly-designed grille. The new 2023 Hyundai Verna will come in four trims – EX, S, SX and SX (O) – and two 1.5L petrol engines. It can be had with either a new 1.5L turbo DI petrol or a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol motor.
The new turbo-petrol unit makes a peak power of 160bhp and comes with the 7-speed DCT automatic and 6-speed manual gearbox options. The same powertrain will also be used in the upcoming Creta facelift and the updated Seltos and Carens. The new turbo gasoline motor will come as a replacement of the 1.4L turbo petrol engine.
The 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine will be offered with the 6-speed manual and an IVT CVT gearbox. The carmaker has also revealed that the both engines meet the RDE and E20 ethanol standards. The Verna’s lower variants are likely to come with the naturally aspirated engine and the higher trim could get the new 1.5L turbo-petrol motor.
Hyundai India has confirmed that the new Verna will be offered in 7 monotone and 2 dual-tone colour options. There are three new paint schemes – Tellurian Brown, Abyss Black and Atlas White. Design of the new 2023 Hyundai Verna will be inspired by the brand’s Grandeur sedan that’s sold in global markets. Reports suggest that the new Verna will enter into series production in March 2023. The carmaker aims to produce 70,000 units/year of the sedan and major chuck of it will be reserved for the exports.
