Mahindra Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic have been generating volume for the carmaker since their launch last year. In January, both SUVs recorded a total sales of 8,715 units against 7,003 units in December 2022. It clocked a MoM (month-on-month) sales growth of 24.45 percent. The Scorpio currently commands a high waiting period, thanks to its huge demand and supply constraint.
The Mahindra Scorpio N Z4 variant has the longest waiting period of up to 60-65 weeks and the Z8 L automatic has the least one of up to 24-26 weeks.

While deliveries of the Z6 and Z8 variants will be made around 55- 60 weeks after the booking, the range-toping Z8 L variant has a waiting period of up to 56-58 weeks. Under the hood, the SUV employs a 132hp, 300Nm, 2.2-litre turbo-diesel, Gen 2 mHawk engine that’s claimed to deliver 14% better fuel efficiency than its old one. Transmission duties are done by a 6-speed manual gearbox.

The Mahindra Scorpio-N is available with two engines – a 2.0 turbo-petrol and a 2.2 diesel. The oil burner comes in two states of tune. The turbo-petrol motor pushes out a peak power of 203bhp and 370Nm (MT)/380Nm (AT) of torque. The diesel engine delivers a claimed power of 132bhp with 300Nm and 175hp with 370Nm (MT)/400Nm (AT). The SUV offers three drive modes – Zip, Zap and Zoom, and the standard RWD system.
The higher diesel variants are exclusively available with 4WD drivetrain system. Both engines are offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The top-end diesel and turbo-petrol trims can also be had with a 6-speed automatic transmission. There are four terrain modes – Normal, Gravel/Grass/Snow, Mud/Rut and Sand. It also gets mechanical locking rear differential, an independent front suspension system, , ESP-based brake locking front differential and a five-link rear suspension.
