With an aim to challenge dominance of Royal Enfield in the 350cc-500cc, single-cylinder motorcycle segment, Bajaj Auto and Triumph are co-developing a range of new bikes. The first model under this joint venture will be a 350cc bike that will see a release in India sometime next year. The model is currently in its testing phase and it was recently caught on camera without any camouflage. The latest spy images reveal design details and features of the production-ready new Bajaj Triumph bike.
Design and styling of the new Bajaj Triumph bike seems inspired from Triumph Bonneville range. The circular headlamps and rear view mirrors give it a retro look. It appears compact with the sculpted fuel tank and has a single-piece seat, alloy wheels and upswept exhaust. It will ride on the 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels shod with the dual purpose Metzeler tyres.
For suspension duties, the bike will have the conventional USD forks at the front and monoshock at the rear with pre-load adjustability. The braking power will come from the front and rear disc brakes. The bike will offer luggage rack placed on the left side at the rear. It will get a rectangular shaped instrument cluster. As mentioned above, the first Bajaj Triumph bike could be offered with a 350cc engine that could be a liquid-cooled unit with a 4-valve and DOHC layout. Once launched, it will face challenge from the Royal Enfield Meteor 350. More details on the upcoming motorcycle are likely to be revealed in near future.
In other updates, Bajaj Auto recently patented three nameplates for its upcoming bikes – Dynamo, Technik and Technica. These names could be used for the brand’s new ICE and electric bikes. The company is planning to launch a new electric vehicle by the end of this year.
