2022 Tata Nexon EV – Longer Range, Improved Design

Tata Nexon EV, India’s top-selling electric car, is ready to receive its first mid-life update this year. Ahead of its official arrival, the company has started testing the updated model, which was recently caught on camera. Its heavily camouflaged prototype was being tested in Pune. The 2022 Tata Nexon EV will come with bigger battery pack that will promise longer electric range. At present, the electric SUV is available with Tata’s Ziptron EV powertrain technology that consists of a 30.2kWh lithium-ion battery. Its power and torque output stand at 127bhp and 245Nm respectively. The company offers the battery with the standard warranty of 8 years. The SUV prices start from Rs 14.24 lakh and go up to Rs 16.85 lakh (all, ex-showroom). The new Tata Nexon EV will surely be slightly more expensive than current model.

Minimal design changes will be made to its exterior. The new 2022 Tata Nexon EV will continue to feature the signature Humanity line faux grille along with the dual-beam LED headlamps and LED DRLs. The SUV will come with the newly-designed 16-inch dual-tone, diamond-cut alloy wheels. The rear section is likely to remain unchanged.

Interior layout and features will remain intact. The Tata Nexon EV will offer a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, a semi-digital instrument cluster with a 7-inch TFT display, connected car tech, auto climate control, multiple airbags, cornering stability control, ABS with EBD and Isofix child seat anchors.

The home-grown automaker has planned a range of new models for this year. The Tata Tiago CNG and Tigor CNG will be the next big launches from the company, which will be followed by Safari and Harrier petrol versions. Tata is also working on a new mid-size SUV that will challenge dominance of the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
