Japanese automaker, Suzuki has released a new teaser image on its social media handles. The teaser shows the car’s LED headlamp cluster, which seems inspired by the Ertiga. The teaser on Suzuki’s Italy social page stated “A new Suzuki model is coming! 14 days until the official premiere’.
It is expected that the new model will be the 2022 Suzuki S-Cross, which will make global premiere in Italy on November 25, 2021. It is reported that the new gen Suzuki S-Cross will be launched in Spain during Christmas, in December 2021. The new model will go on sale in other markets next year.
The 2022 Suzuki S-Cross hasn’t been spotted on roads for testing purposes, as the details about the design changes are not known. It is likely to retain the original crossover-ish design without any dramatic design changes. However, some of the styling elements are expected to be completely new including the front grille, lighting system, alloy wheel design.
The 2022 Suzuki S-Cross is likely to be based on the HEARTECT platform that underpins the Ertiga. However, the Japanese automaker will make use of high tensile steel to make the platform stronger. The new model will have advanced features that are missing in the current car.
Moreover, the 2022 Suzuki S-Cross will come with a tech-laden interior and will have connected car tech. Adding to it, the crossover will come with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistant System) with features like autonomous emergency braking, park assist, cross traffic alert, blind spot detection, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, etc.
The biggest change will be made under the hood. Suzuki is focusing on electrification, and the new gen S-Cross will receive major improvements in terms of hybrid tech. The new model will receive light hybrid technology to achieve European emission norms. Called the SHVS (Suzuki Hybrid Vehicle System), the new mild-hybrid system will be coupled with petrol engine.
The new generation S-Cross is likely to be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine with a 48-volt system. Transmission options could include a 6-speed manual and an automatic gearbox. It is also likely to get Suzuki’s AllGrip 4×4 drive system. The 1.5L engine is capable of producing 103bhp and 138Nm of torque. The crossover could also receive a 1.4L Boosterjet turbo engine that offers 127bhp and 235Nm of torque.
