Volvo XC90, the flagship SUV from the Swedish automaker, has received mild-hybrid variant in the country. The model has been priced at Rs 89.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The new Volvo XC90 petrol mild hybrid version comes as a replacement to its diesel model that uses 235bhp, 2.0L oil burner. The new powertrain includes a new 2.0L, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine coupled to a 48V integrated starter generator motor. The system produces a peak power of 300bhp and 420Nm of torque.
Compared to the diesel motor, the new petrol mild hybrid motor is around 65bhp more powerful. However, its torque is 60Nm lesser than the oil burner. For performing transmission duties, the new Volvo XC90 mild hybrid has an 8-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. The model has AWD (all-wheel-drive) system and air suspension as standard fitments.
The XC90 continues to be available with the petrol plug-in hybrid powertrain. It has a 2.0L petrol engine that’s good enough for 303bhp and an 87bhp electric motor. The Volvo XC90 Recharge costs Rs 96.65 lakh (ex-showroom).
Visually, the new Volvo XC90 mild hybrid looks exactly similar to the standard model. The model comes in four exterior colour options, namely, Pine Grey, Onyx Black, Crystal White Pearl and Denim Blue. Buyers can choose from the two interior themes – Brow and Amber – with leather, crystal, metal and wood. The SUV has a 9-inch Google-powered infotainment system along with a new ‘Advanced Air Cleaner’ system.
The list of features also includes a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, 4-zone climate control, Bowers and Wilkins sound system, head-up display, heated front seats with massage function, air quality system with PM 2.5 sensor, panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charger, heated and massaging front seats, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping aid, 360-degree camera, pilot assist, collision mitigation support, blind spot information system with cross traffic alert, park assist pilot and many more goodies.
