Skoda Enyaq Electric SUV To Be Launched In India

Buoyed by positive response for new Kushaq mid-sized SUV, Skoda Auto is now planning to add more investment in the Indian market. The company also plans to manufacture electric cars in the country; however, Skoda will initially launch EVs using CBU or CKD route. The first Skoda EV in our market will be the Enyaq electric SUV, which has received an overwhelming response in Europe.

Speaking to ET Auto, Thomas Schafer, Chairman of the Board of Skoda Auto said, “At the moment, the team in India is looking at the options. They’ll bring in next year probably a few Enyaqs to try it on the ground. The car has been super successful in Europe; we believe this can also work in India.”

Skoda Enyaq iV features

Skoda Enyaq is based on the MEB platform, which is a modular platform for electric cars produced by VW Group. This platform already underpins the VW iD.4, Audi Q4 e-tron and the VW iD.3. The new Enyaq EV is claimed to offer plenty of space inside the cabin. It measures around 4.7 meters in length, and offers an impressive 585-litres of boot space. The boot space can be further extended up to 1,710-litres by folding the rear seats.

The Skoda Enyaq in Europe is offered with multiple battery systems. It gets a 55kWh battery pack offering a range of 340km. There is a RWD drive motor with the 77kWh usable battery pack that will offer 510km range. The company also offers a sportier RS version with AWD system and a total output of 225kW. That offers 302bhp and 460Nm, and 0-100kmph acceleration in 6.2 seconds, and an electronically restricted top speed of 180kmph.

The Skoda Enyaq is capable of rapid charging at up to 125kW, offering 5-80 percent in just 38 minutes. However, the maximum rate is 50kW as standard, with 100kW as optional on the 62kWh battery, and 125kW as optional on the 82kWh battery.
